Large scale* community solar gardens are developed at off-site locations by private developers to generate clean, carbon-free electricity.
* Maximum of 2,000 kW’s of capacity per site.
No solar rooftop panels are required on your residence.
The community solar garden generates clean, carbon-free electricity and supplies it to the utility’s power grid for delivery to its distribution customers including homes, schools and business.
You enroll as a subscriber to the community solar facility, and you receive a net metering credit on your monthly utility electricity invoice for your portion of the solar power generated each calendar month. MC Squared Energy Services, LLC. (mc²) bills you separately for 80% of the net metering credit you receive, and therefore you retain 20% as your monthly savings! There are no other fees involved – it’s that simple to support solar generating resources in Illinois and receive a guaranteed savings for participating.

Will I save more by subscribing to Community Solar with behind the meter Net Metering?
Customers with behind the meter net metering resources served under ComEd’s basic fixed tariff supply service, Rate BES, will receive monthly community solar generation credits based on a higher value per kWh. The value of community solar generation credits under the ComEd fixed tariff supply rate has averaged between 5.5 and 6.0 cents per kWh over the last several years.
Because your net metering credit is based on electric supply service rate structure—and depending on your structure may include or exclude different items from other rates—the potential savings as a community solar subscriber in conjunction with the behind the meter net metering distributed resource will depend on your choice of supply services in addition to other factors (for example the price for the behind-the-meter or community generation, system production). The potential savings opportunity may be reduced (or even negative) if you are served under the ComEd hourly tariff supply service vs. the standard ComEd fixed tariff supply and the cost of the subscription from the community solar project owners is based on the value of the generation credits at the higher ComEd fixed tariff supply service value.
Billing and Service Information
How does the billing work?
How do I reconcile my bill?

MC Squared Energy Services, LLC (mc²) will separately bill you for 80% of the monthly community solar credit received, as the program subscription fee, using the credit/debit card that was provided during the secure on-line enrollment process. The net result is a savings of 20% of the solar generation credits to you!
The community solar subscription invoice from mc² will be sent after the monthly generation data from the community solar project is reconciled and validated with ComEd which means that there could be up to a three-month lag of the subscription fee invoice depending on your meter read cycle timing. To reconcile the net savings for a specific month, please refer to the billing period listed on your recent mc² subscription fee invoice and compare to the corresponding generation period listed on your ComEd electric utility bill. An example is shown below.
